Dental Braces: The Ideal Way to Straighten Teeth

If you dream about having straight teeth and a beautiful smile, dental braces could be the answer. Maybe you want to close gaps, correct an overbite or straighten overlapping teeth. Whatever the case, orthodontics can solve the problem.

Dental braces can correct unattractive, misaligned teeth, so you have a more appealing smile. And a great smile can be your best asset because it can help build your self esteem, relationships and career. In the words of Phyllis Diller, “A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.” And it’s never too late to get a gorgeous smile. Today, adults make up about half of all orthodontic patients—and so can you.

Straight Teeth Do More than Look Better, They Also Work Better
Dental braces can do more than just straighten unattractive teeth so they look better. Orthodontics also helps your teeth function better so they are healthier. For example…

How Traditional Dental Braces Work
Essentially, dental braces correct the alignment of teeth and their position with regard to bite. Traditional braces use a combination of brackets, bands, wires and elastic rings to put pressure on the teeth. These elements all work together to apply constant force that gradually moves teeth in the desired direction. Treatment times vary from six months to six years, depending on the complexity of the problem.

Invisalign Dental Braces, a Better Alternative
Fortunately, you don’t have to walk around with metal braces to get straight teeth. Invisalign dental braces offer a lightweight, comfortable alternative that is practically invisible.

Invisalign dental braces straighten teeth just like traditional braces, but with no pain or clunky metal hardware involved. The Invisalign system uses clear, plastic “aligners” or retainers to gradually straighten the teeth. They’re essentially undetectable, so people will hardly notice that you’re wearing them. They’re perfect for older adults who want to avoid wearing a “metal mouth” in business and social settings.

With Invisalign, custom-made molds similar to tooth-whitening trays are used to move the teeth. The aligners can be worn on the top and bottom arches, and they’re completely removable. That means you can easily brush and floss your teeth to keep them clean during treatment. You can also take the aligners out while you’re eating, so you can enjoy sticky foods, soft drinks, candy and even chewing gum.

I am a certified provider of Invisalign in the Vancouver area, as a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She is one of 30,000 dental practitioners worldwide authorized to use these dental braces. Nearly a quarter of a million patients have used Invisalign to straighten their teeth and create a beautiful smile.
